Shell Olympus Mars Living Quarters
Owner: Royal Dutch Shell
Architect: Shell Engineering
Completion Date: 2013
When Shell first encountered hydrocarbons in the Mars basin in 1989, it was one of the Gulf’s largest discoveries to date. The Shell Olympus platform, built to manage the work at this basin in 2013, is a living quarters module home to 192 employees. On this project, Broadmoor introduced 4D plant design management software (PDMS) linking the commonly used 3D PDMS to construction activities that created color-coded visual representations of the construction progress over time and greatly reduced safety risks to all personnel.
