Tulane University Center Renovation & Expansion

University CenterIn 2007, Broadmoor completed the expansion and modernization of Tulane University’s Lavin-Bernick Student Center at its Uptown campus in New Orleans. The University Center (U.C.) has long-served as the hub for extracurricular activities at the University, since its original construction more than forty years ago. The renovation, reorganization, and expansion transformed the U.C. into a superbly functional center of campus services and activities- ultimately winning a multitude of awards around the country.

The project included an increase in meeting space of approximately 8,000 square feet, an updating of student program space as well as areas for dining, and an expansion of the campus bookstore. The new student center was ultimately expanded by 40,000 square feet and now features several chilled water walls and expansive natural lighting throughout all levels of the building. The building, renovation, and new structure total 135,000 square feet.

This project won several awards for its design, at the local and national levels, ultimately achieving a prestigious National AIA COTE Top 10 Award in 2008. It also won the Best of 2010 for construction from ENR Magazine in the Education category.
