Designed to service the only land-based casino in New
Orleans, providing a total of 1,533 parking spaces, the facility occupies two
city blocks in Downtown New Orleans. Two
independent garages, the ten-story structure provides nine levels of parking
and houses all mechanical and electrical support systems for the adjacent land
based casino. This includes cooling
towers, electrical switchgear, booster pumps, and emergency generators at the
roof level. The six-story structure
provides five levels of parking with a portion dedicated as an intermodal
facility for buses with passenger waiting areas and rest rooms at the ground
level. Each building includes space for
commercial development on the ground level.
Lobbies access the parking levels above, escalators lead to the basement
level tunnel also constructed by Broadmoor, which runs under one of New
Orleans’s busiest thoroughfares, Poydras Street. The tunnel leads to escalators
at the Casino side which ascend to the main casino floor.
Located in the historic warehouse district, the cast stone
façade of the open parking structure and brick faces the street level façade of
both buildings and each building provides a canopied sidewalk on all sides for
a classical New Orleans street scene.
